Why what we're doing is important?

Wearing tights over my head at five, selling hand-drawn packets of street-picked leaves as “tea” at ten, building a small empire inside a computer game by sixteen, arguing about the tension between human freedom and economic goals with university professors at eighteen, and trying to navigate through the unknown waters of United States after immigration at 21 - all of these, along with the many other ventures in my life, were driven by the same goal: to understand who I am, what world I am living in, what my personal and our collective purposes are, and how I should act to bring myself closer to them.

Socrates’ famous “Know thyself” is not about finding final answers to all of these questions. It is about learning to pay attention to the questions themselves. When we examine the ideals, values, and virtues through which we filter thoughts, desires, and decisions - and ask where they come from - we gain the power to withstand the pressures of a modern, ever-changing world, and create a better, more fulfilled, and more meaningful life for ourselves and for those around us.

Iznanka was created to help with exactly that.

Prompted journaling was a major inspiration behind what we do and how we do it, but Iznanka takes reflection beyond the page. It helps people capture the foundations of their inner world and focused reflections on it through everyday, usable objects: a T-shirt worn to a gathering with friends, a poster seen each morning after waking up, or a sticker noticed every time a laptop is closed after a demanding workday.

These reflections are not only easy to create and keep close; they are also pleasant to return to. I supplied each Inner Layer™ - a webpage that holds a person’s input - with elaborate animations, element placements, and logical flows to create a deeper emotional and aesthetic response during interaction with it. In this way, Iznanka is not only a tool for self-observation and self-preservation, but also a piece of modern art that blends two worlds - physical and digital - and can be felt and lived within two dimensions: as an abstract silhouette on the surface and as an expansive, self-authored digital experience beneath it.

After moving to the United States — a place he once saw as the beginning of a new life and the realization of long-held dreams — Daniil encountered not fulfillment, but emptiness. Dreams faded. Desires lost their shape and direction. Longing for the past, fear of an uncertain future, and the inner fragmentation of youth — intensified by three years of fleeing home in Ukraine as war broke out — created a vacuum that needed to be filled.

In meeting others, he began to see that this absence of meaning was not personal, but shared. Many people live without clear contact with what shaped them, what grounds them, or what truly matters.

One December night, the idea for Iznanka emerged: not as a clothing brand, but as a medium for meaning. A way to make personal significance tangible — something people could carry with them, encounter daily, and, if they choose, share with others through a simple gesture.

The Inner Layer™ is a private web page linked uniquely to the object. It extends the design beyond what the surface can hold.

You complete the inner layer with your materials: thoughts, text, images, dates, memories, or prompts. We place them into Iznanka’s layout for that piece.

Access is simple: scan the object with a phone camera. No app. No setup. Nothing opens unless someone chooses to scan.
